Definition of Independent

Independent - (1) not subject to control by others : (2) not affiliated with a larger controlling unit.

How can our archdiocese call this "task force" independent? The vicar of this "task force" is not only an employee but one of the founders of the University of St. Thomas Law School which is an archdiocesan school. (note number 2 above)
